Expect more activity around here

I forgot to mention yesterday that the picture of the naughty nun was taken with my new Nikon D80. Since buying a point-and-shoot digital camera three years ago, I haven't once used my film SLR. I was missing the versatility I had with an SLR but I didn't want to go back to dealing with film, so the answer was the D80. Expect to see more photos on my website like I used to take; where I was taking picture for the simple joy of it.

The downside to all this is that I am out of practice. I went to the Domes last weekend and got a hard lesson in how unsteady my hands are. 1/60 of a second is about my limit for a shutter speed without a tripod. I was out there shooting at speeds like 1/15 - and slower. Still it wasn't a complete waste of time:

But don't tell anyone at the Domes I posted this. I promised that I was only taking pictures for personal use and I don't know what a blog counts as. I don't want botany mafia pounding on my door.

Just a photo I snapped in my office the other day when a couple of figurines somehow became oddly juxtaposed.
