I biked some more and play Morrowind some more. Later in the
evening, Mike brought over his two new dogs, which are still unnamed.
They are quite the hyper-dogs and both peed on my floor.
I had a dinner date at Crazy Fish in Chesterfield. I had never
eaten there before but always wanted to try it, since I am a huge
seafood lover. It was good, but there was a lot less seafood then
I had imagined. I went to tuna town - for the appitizer I had
the Sashimi Tuna (sushi, that means raw tuna for you uncultured
folk) and then I had the Ahi tuna dinner - cooked medium rare,
of course.
Hot hot hot! Stayed inside for most of the day, playing
Morrowind. I have chosen to start concentrating on the Blades missions
now, which are the core plot of the game. Later in the evening I
met up with my date from the night before. We went swimming. I hadn't
been in a pool in probably two years. Felt pretty good. I need to
do it more - it's good excerise, even though I only know the backstroke
and I am pretty lousy at it.
Adult Swim night. It was one of the best Adult Swim nights
ever. No Baby Blues and a Sealab 2021 I had never seen before. Home
Movies was brand new, and it was the funniest one I have ever seen.
Later Geoff and I started blasting old eighties tunes, mostly depeche
mode.
Forgot to set my alarm last night! I woke up after 8:30am and
wandered into the bathroom to take my pills (and some ibuprofrin
- a little too much gin last night). Then I wandered into the
kitchen and started cleaning up to do the dishes. At about this
time I realized that it was in fact Monday and what the heck was
I doing the dishes for; I was late for work. I think I am getting
old and forgetful.
It's new release Tuesday, and what a day! Today sees the release
of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Star Trek
II: The Wrath of Kahn, the Simpsons Season 2 and Clash of the
Titans. It's a good thing I haven't bought a DVD since May (with
the exception of Drop Dead Gorgeous, but that only cost $6), so
I can justify spending all this money.
Actually, I couldn't justify it all. Clash of the Titans will
just have to wait. So all I got today was Star Trek II. Lord of
the Rings and the Simpsons are on order from Amazon.com. I don't
know why I do that - I could have had them today. Now I have to
wait until they are delivered and according to Amazon their status
is still "shipping soon." *sigh* I guess I did it because
I had a $5 coupon - but a lot of good that did me. It covered
the shipping and handling costs, so what's the difference? I'm
just stupid, I guess.
I watched Star Trek as soon as I got home.
Woohoo! Despite having a status of "Shipping Soon"
online, I came in this morning and Fellowship of the Ring and The
Simpsons were sitting on my desk when I got into work today. I made
Mike come over and watch some Simpsons. Then we popped in Lord of
the Rings - at about 10:30pm. So, needless to say I was up way too
late, as it is a three hour movie.
I'm sorry, I can't remember what I did today.
Watched Lord of the Rings - again.
Geoff came over tonight since he couldn't make it for the usual
Sunday Night Adult Swim. Mike and his friend CJ came over as well
to cool off in my A/C - they had been doing some landscaping work
nearby.
It was about dinnertime, so we ordered a two pizzas from Pizza
Hut. We wait for over an hour to be delievered. Still no pizza.
Suddenly, just as I was considering calling them, the phone rings
and it is Pizza Hut! They asked me if I had ordered a pizza and
when I said yes, they just hung up. Thank heavens I had Mike there.
I gave him the phone and he called back and made them pay for
their insolence. I wonder how many Cutomer Service reps mike has
brought to tears. At any rate, they promised us a free pizza.
When the delivery guy came, I let Mike and Geoff handle it. I
left the room. I don't like confrontation. When I returned, they
had gotten both pizzas for free - paying only for the tip (since
the whole fiasco wasn't his fault).
... and later I went to bed watching Lord of the Rings.
I did nothing today. Why? It's that damn Morrowind! Now
I am concentrating on the main missions just so I can be done with
this game. It's so addicting!
Trent says that this is me:

And you know what? He's right.
Watched Lord of the Rings - Again.
Hmm.... I seem to have more and more evenings where I
have done nothing.
Dance
Baby Dance!
It's a school night, but on a whim, I decided to go with Mike
and a couple others to the Complex.
I haven't been there all year and it's already August, so I figured,
"What the hell?" Although the Complex usually annoys
me, I actually had fun. I forgot how much more space there is
on a weeknight. I even danced (which is always a sight to behold).
Still, it was a bit sobering to see all the young ones out on
the floor dancing to song after song after song. Makes me feel
old. After just one song I would be cramping and need a break.
And of course the downside of this is I didn't get home and into
bed until 4:00am and I had to get up and go to work in the morning.
Geoff starts school on Monday, so the Sunday Night Adult Swims
have to be put on hold for a while. So he came over tonight and
we drank Gin & Tonics and played eighties music all night.
I also helped him start his own little website.
I stayed at home all day today. I am determined to finish Morrowind
this weekend. Besides, I can't afford to go out. I already spent
my weekend play money on Thursday.
The day started off when some big thunderstorms. That gave me
a good excuse to play Morrowind. Later, when the weather cleared
up, I drove over to Trayce and Kittie's and borrowed a pruner
and some hedge trimmers. So I spent a couple hours out in the
humidity cutting back those hedges so people can actually make
it to my front door. Later in the evening, I turned my attention
back to Morrowind, and I FINSHED IT. Thank heavens for
that.
Spent most of my spare time redesigning the site today. Clearly
I need to clean up a few more things and generate some new graphics,
but it's ready to be posted I think ... and if you're reading
this, then I was right.
Mixed Drinks
Went to the Coffee
Cartel tonight with Mike and watched all the young gay boys
flirting with each other. I ordered the Coffee Lovers frappe;
a shake make with cappuccino chocolate chip ice cream and three
shots of espresso. Mike said I wouldn't get any sleep. I told
him caffeine doesn't effect me.
After we finished our drinks I wanted to stop by the Loading
Zone and see if they were continuing on the tradition of Showtunes
Tuesday since their reopening a week or so ago. Indeed they were.
So I found a spot at the bar and ordered a dirty sapphire martini.
Nothing better to wash down a coffee flavored shake with.
I got home early and went straight to bed.
But, at 2am I laid in bed, my eyes as wide as saucers and my
stomach churning up some awful batch of acid.
This Happens Every Time
My sister Dawn and nephews Riley and Sean arrived today! Yay!
We went to the Ice and Fuel for dinner and ordered nothing but
appetizers. When we got home, we cracked open a bottle of wine
and proceeded to drink through that while watching Lord of the
Rings. But, that is just such a long movie the wine couldn't stand
up to it, and soon I found myself drinking gin & tonics (by
this time, the boys had gone to bed).
It seems that every time Dawn and I visit each other, that first
evening is spent drinking - heavily. This is no exception, and
tomorrow, we are supposed to take the boys to Six Flags.
Kitchey Caverns
We all got up early to get a head start on the crowds at Six
Flags. Dawn and I were seriously dragging our feet. Yes, mixing
every possible drink in one evening does still produce a hangover.
I'm hoping not to blow chunks on Batman today (the ride, not the
superhero).
But we got to Six Flags, and in some weird flashback moment to
the the end of National
Lampoon's Vacation, it is closed! I had assumed it was opened
weekdays through Labor Day. But as it turned out, last week was
the last week they were open weekdays. So we would have to wait
until Saturday to go to Six Flags. Dawn and I are saved from a
hangover nightmare!
Since we were already a third of the way there, we drove out
to Meremac
Caverns. I was a little worried we wouldn't find it, because
I hadn't looked up directions to it on the Internet yet. But not
to worry: after Six Flags, virtually every billboard is an advertisement
for the caverns. Even the sides of barns were painted with advertisements
for such fabulous attractions as the Jesse
James Wax Museum. Yes, we had definitely left Missouri and
entered Missourah.
All in all the caverns were pretty cool, despite the surrounding
commercial tackiness. There was the over the top ending with an
ancient recording of Kate Smith singing "America the Beautiful."
I took plenty of pictures so look for them here soon.
That Big Metal Thing Downtown
Despite the fact we did this last time the boys were here, they
wanted to go up in the Gateway
Arch again. So this took up most of our time. I have pictures
from the time before, so I didn't even bother. We did add a river
cruise on the Mississippi this time, which basically consisted
of pointed out all the industrial docks along the river. But I
did actually buy something at the gift store: the National Parks
Version of Monopoly. I have a shortage of games in my house, so
I figured this would make a good addition. Ironically, there is
nothing about the Arch or the Jefferson
National Expansion Memorial anywhere in the game.
Tonight we stayed home and ordered Imo's.
The boys just played HALO all night and Geoff came over and the
three of us sat out back and discussed liberal issues. That is,
until I couldn't stand watching Riley and Sean gleefully shooting
each other in a virtual alien world any more.
Wally World Opens
Today Six
Flags was open, so that's about all we did. It wasn't as hot
as on Thursday, but still, I was feeling terribly sticky just
from the walk from the parking lot. We rode Batman
immediately. Well, after about a half-hour wait in line, that
is. After that the boys decided they didn't want to wait in lines,
so all the coasters were basically out of the picture. They rode
a few of the old fashioned rides and we ate lunch. After that,
we went into Hurricane
Harbor, which was A-OK with me. So, most of the day was spent
frolicking in pools of cool water. I liked the lazy river particularly.
The wave pool drove me insane though, because all my time in there
was spent trying to keep one eye on Riley and the other on Sean
as the dove in and out of the mass of humanity.
Urinal Surprise
Mike came over and we started chatting on Gay.com with Zach and
CJ, who were the people we went to the Complex
with the week before. Mike wanted to go to Faces;
they wanted to go to OZ.
I had never been to OZ before so was hip to go there. Well, when
we got there, CJ and Zach were like, "This blows, lets go
to Faces." So I spent $5 just to get into OZ and then go
to Faces. Oh well, I had more fun at Faces anyhow. Plus, I finally
realized how they were able to legally keep girls out of the basement.
I never noticed, but there is a working urinal on one of the walls
down there. It's just sitting there, out in the open for all to
see. Apparently this allows Faces to classify the whole downstairs
bar as an open men's bathroom.
Life Returns to Normal
The house is so quiet now with Dawn and the boys gone. It was
so eerie. Aussi was quite happy about it though.
New Test
I took a great new personality
test today. The Peanuts character test. Of course, I was Linus.
It's Been 10 Years and I Can't Wait Another Damn Month!
Frustrated as hell tonight because I can't get the download of
off Peter
Gabriel's website to hear his new song Yes. It's been
10 years since the last studio album and the new one, Up,
isn't being released until September 24th. All I want is to hear
one song! And the stupid Internet won't let me. Argh!!!!! Think
about it - when his last studio album came out, I didn't even
have a computer, let alone an internet connection.
Okay, I've Got My Fix.
After upgrading to Quicktime 6 today, I still couldn't get "Yes"
to work. But I found a recording of the first single, "The
Barry Williams Show" elsewhere on petergabriel.com, and that
worked. I spent so much time last night trying to get that one
thing to work, I didn't even think about looking for stuff elsewhere
on the site.
After listening to it once at work, I had the song in my head
all afternoon. A sign of good things to come.
Summer Sickness Sux
It's the middle of summer! How can I be coming down with a cold.
All day long I had to deal with a sore throat. To top it off,
it's a three day weekend and I'm staying at home. But Geoff and
Mike came over and we chatted online, harrassing the gay.com kids
and watched the Powerpuff Girls on DVD.
I Own Mount Rushmore
Spent most of the day in the house. I was tired and my legs ached.
Had a lot of hot flashes too. Oddly, I haven't been too congested.
In the evening I convinced Mike and Gary to come over and play
my new purchased Monopoly - National Parks Edition.
I always remember in Monopoly that all the money we had to pay
because of Chance and Community Chest cards as well as things
like Luxury Tax went into the "pot," and whoever landed
on Free Parking got all the money in the "pot." But
you know what, that's not an actual monopoly rule. In fact they
went out of their way to say the Free Parking was just a space
with no bonuses or penalties. I guess Parker Brothers doesn't
like people changing the rules.
